The holiday of Sukkot is one of the three pilgrimage holidays because in ancient times the Jews journeyed from the four corners of their country to the Temple of Jerusalem. The holiday is a harvest festival and also reminds us of the temporary shelters the Jews built as they wandered through the desert.
