Shabbat after Thanksgiving Farbrengen:

A "Gift Service"

A Farbrengen comprised of the spiritual gifts that YOU bring: poems, songs or brief (2 minutes or less) statements of gratitude. If your form of expression is visual, pictures are also most welcome.

The service will be held in the Oneg room, but we'll also take a brief silent walk in the Meditation Garden as we count our blessings.

Please invite a friend...  All ages are welcome, but the service is likely most meaningful to those 12 years old and up.

The oneg is sponsored by: Yvonne Wilensky in memory of her late husband Joseph Wilensky and to honor the Beth Or community.

Thanksgiving Resources

I just learned from Rabbi Toba Spitzer, President of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association (RRA), about this   fascinating article in last Sunday's Boston Globe about the Puritan origins of Thanksgiving. It had nothing to do with harvests or Indians, and was more like Yom Kippur.  George. Washington's declaration of Thanksgiving was based on this Puritan model, which involved self-reflection and a call for national penitence.

Happenings

Almost everything works at Beth Or and looks good, too.  How? It's those invisible House Heros who work to repair, install and maintain things behind the scenes.

Thank you Mike Leslie and Kathryn Belkin for your much appreciated help...
