Rabbi Rebecca Lillian Resignation Letter
|
7 December 2007 Dear Members and Friends of Beth Or:
Under the terms of my contract with Beth Or, I had to the end of this calendar year to inform the Board of whether I would renew my contract. On Wednesday, with a heavy heart, I informed the Board that I will not be seeking a renewal of my contract. Consequently, I will be leaving Beth Or when my contract ends July 31, 2008.
My decision has absolutely nothing to do with Beth Or. The reason is simply after looking for a professional position for more than three years, Jan has been unable to find one in South Florida, and therefore, he has continued to work in Chicago. Now after 3 and ½ years, we do not wish to live in two different cities and spend so much time apart any longer.
Serving as Beth Or’s rabbi has been the highlight of my career. I have learned so much here and from you; both Jan and I will miss the Community terribly.
Over the next seven months, I have committed to the Board and to you that I will do everything I possibly can to help in this time of transition. As always, I welcome phone calls, E-mails, and appointments if you wish to speak to me.
Chanukah is a time of rededication. I hope we will all use this period to rededicate ourselves to Beth Or and the Beth Or Community.
May you and yours be blessed with love and light this Chanukah,
Rebecca
